Integrative Veterinary Wellness is a crucial part of my dogs' quality of life. Everything is covered there, from supplements and nutrition to chiropractic and acupuncture. They keep my agility dogs in top shape and my retired dogs are running and playing well into their teens. Also, I rely on their keen diagnostic skills for any questionable lameness that may come up. Dr. Smallwood and her team are absolutely stellar! My corgi has been a patient for years to receive treatment for her hip dysplasia. I love the idea of holistic medicine, and I reached out when traditional medicine wasn't working as we had hoped. I really appreciate how they go the extra mile to make sure their patients receive appropriate treatment. They offer SO many options from hydrotherapy, rehab, therapeutic massage, and nutritional and supplement recommendations. They also helped my same corgi with recurrent UTIs. Holistic supplements managed to lower her urine pH (to dissolve the crystals in her urine), boosted her bladder and kidney health, and boosted her normal flora in about a month and a half. The results were so good, my traditional vet was shocked when her urinalysis came back as normal without using one of those Kidney health diets. These people know their stuff. My baby will be 13 yrs. old on Christmas Eve and we are truly fortunate to have found Dr. Shannon Wessel-Calbrix, a BIG thanks to her. My baby is a cancer survivor (3 yrs. free of cancer) but unfortunately, her otherwise perfect health condition almost immediately deteriorated during Chemotherapy (our big mistake). During Chemotherapy, she developed kidney issues with protein loss in urine and the western medicine treatment continued forever and so were her health issues one after the other. She is dealing with acid reflux/aspiration pneumonia issues, respiratory issues, loss of muscle mass due to a low-protein diet, hind leg weakness, gallbladder sludge, diarrhea, and regurgitation, etc. We were devastated and I made a decision to go Holistic one fine day after researching a lot. Dr. Leska has been a blessing in short and her holistic experience and the immediate plan of action to resolve my baby's health issues one by one is highly commendable, to say the least. It was right in the middle of COVID (mid-year) when I first talked to her and the way she took time to understand what exactly is going on with my baby as a whole was an immediate relief to me. She cared about her overall health and laid out a plan that is easily understood and every appointment thereafter, her patience in assessment, explanation, honesty, feedback on my big and small concerns, email communication, professionalism, tips/guidance, and care for my baby is unparalleled. My baby had challenges along the way and Dr. Leska offered a variation in treatments and figuring out what worked best for her. We are so grateful to Dr. Leska, my baby is finally doing better now than ever after close to 3 years of health struggles. I got her entire health checkup just a month ago to re-assess how the results look after IVW treatments and everything came back normal – X-Rays, Ultrasound, Complete Blood work, Blood pressure, Kidney health (BUN Creatinine values are back to normal range), no arthritis, all organs are normal, gall bladder sludge reduced. We have seen significant improvement in reflux/regurgitation (almost gone, very well controlled), no more aspiration pneumonia, lung congestion has totally cleared up after 6 months, improvement in her climbing the stairs on her own (she couldn’t before), and improved muscle mass. We also were able to take her to a cabin country living vacation for her to enjoy and it has all been possible because of Dr. Leska. She runs around and plays like she was when she was 2. We are so very grateful, hopeful, and ready to celebrate her 13th birthday on Dec. 24 and a Santa pic. I know she is in good hands at Integrative Veterinary Wellness with TCM herbal medicine, acupuncture, aqua-puncture, laser therapy, and Dr. Smallwood performs Chiropractic adjustments as well that is helping her have a better quality of life. The entire staff there, be it a visit or a phone call are extremely helpful/friendly and always walk the extra mile to make our dogs and us feel most comfortable even during COVID.
